California State Polytechnic University, Pomona began as the Vorhees Unit of California Polytechnic School in 1938, operating initially as a satellite campus before becoming an independent institution in 1966. Today Cal Poly Pomona sits on 1,725 acres in the eastern reach of Los Angeles County, making it the second-largest campus in the California State University system. The university serves approximately 27,000 students—25,000 undergraduates and roughly 2,000 graduate students—across eight colleges.

The eight colleges span agriculture, business administration, education, engineering, environmental design, hospitality management, science, and letters, arts and social sciences. Cal Poly Pomona emphasizes the polytechnic philosophy of "Learn. Do. Become," using hands-on, experiential education where students put classroom knowledge into practice. The university is recognized as the #1 Polytechnic University for Diversity and Economic Mobility, reflecting its commitment to educating students from backgrounds often underrepresented in higher education and engineering.

For many Pomona families, Cal Poly represents opportunity: a family member's first time on a college campus, a degree that opens career paths, a milestone on the way to independence. Protecting those milestones—and the years of effort that precede them—is a concrete reason families choose life insurance. A term policy sized to cover student loans or family income during the crucial years of education and career launch is both practical and affordable.
